Aynsley's
history stretches back over the centuries—in
1775, John Aynsley established a factory at Longton,
formerly Lane End, to became one of Stoke-on-Trent's
earliest master potter. His hobby grew and prospered, and
over the next two centuries, became a leading influences in
the British china industry. His grandson John Aynsley II led
the company to the forefront of china making with the
revolutionary addition of calcined bone to the china recipe.
In
1861, Portland Works, a factory built solely for the
manufacturer of the successful new fine bone china, still
resides as their manufacturing base in Stoke-on-Trent. The
skill and artistry remains intact, even after two centuries
and modernization.
Aynsley was specially commissioned to supply
tableware to Royalty, governments and companies all over the
world, including: Queen Victoria, Her Majesty Queen
Elizabeth II and Their Royal Highnesses the Prince and
Princess of Wales. Aynsley China is a member of one of the
most prestigious giftware groups, which include the world
renowned Belleek, Donegal Parian China and Galway Irish
Crystal brands.
